Staff Burbank

Bonnie Bentley, Instructor

Bonnie has taught gymnastics and dance in Texas and New York for over 10 years. She was a competitive gymnast and ballet dancer growing up. She has since graduated from SMU with a BFA in Theater and has performed in several Broadway show tours.

Bonnie loves teaching kids and is excited to be a part of Fun & Fit.

 
Jose Carrera, Office Manager

Jose graduated from Burroughs High School in 1998. He currently is going to college pursuing a career in business & teaching. His future goal is to own a business of his own. Jose has worked at Fun & Fit since 2002.




 
Danielle Darling, Day Camp Director/Instructor/Customer Service

Danielle Darling has been coaching gymnastics since 1999, from preschool though upper levels. In 2004 she graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development.

Danielle is currently our Day Camp Director, an Instructor and Customer Service Representative, and loves working with children of all ages especially here at Fun & Fit.
 
Codi Dobie, Instructor

Codi became a Fun & Fit student at the age of 8 our teaching staff at the age of 17 years while a senior at John Burroughs High School. She is very good with children "because they like my wacky personality". Codi says, "It has always been a dream of mine to one day coach a class of my own."

Codi also loves to cook and hopes to one day become a top chef. "I have been cooking as long as I can remember and love it almost as much as showing off my round-off back handsprings.
 
Tanya Fernly, Head Instructor

Tanya started gymnastics at age 3 here at Fun & Fit. As she advanced in her gymnastics skills she ventured out to try competitive gymnastics and dance. Tanya returned to Fun & Fit in 2000 as an instructor. She enjoys coaching gymnastics, but even more so, loves raising the level of self-esteem in her students.

Tanya currently attends CSUN studying to become a physical therapist.
 
Alex Gastelum, Customer Service Director/Instructor

Alex Gastelum has been with the Fun & Fit family since 1997. Alex has been the Director of Customer Service for the past 7 years and has been coaching Tumble-Tots and preschool classes since 2000. Alex takes great pride in his efficiency running a successful office and enjoys helping his students grow in a fun and exciting environment.


 
Alex "Ander" Gomez , Instructor

Ander has been doing gymnastics since the age of 3. His mother, being a gymnast and instructor herself, harnessed his energy at a young age which started his passion for the sport.

Ander has been coaching since the age of 17 in the San Francisco bay area. He worked as the Boys Program Director for 5 years and Preschool Program Director for 1 year prior to his employment at Fun & Fit Gymnastics. He is excited to join the Fun and Fit team and when asked about his favorite aspect of coaching he put it very simply – “my kids”!
 
Jeff Lulla, President

Jeff Lulla is a member of the USAG National Safety Review Board, USA Gymnastics University system, a National Safety Instructor for USA Gymnastics, co-author of the USAG Kinder Accreditation for Teachers (KAT) Course, an industry consultant, and for years has been a seminar presenter for the Amateur Athletic Foundation, the US Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs, Gymnastics B.C. Canada, and USA Gymnastics. He also serves on the USAG National Preschool Advisory Panel and has participated at the USAG Business Owners Conference presenting table topics on technology and marketing.

Jeff Lulla earned a B.A. degree in Physical Education from CSUN in 1976, and has over 30 years of teaching and coaching experience. In 1985 Jeff opened the first Fun & Fit Gymnastics Center in Burbank, California and in 1987 opened the second Fun & Fit Gymnastics facility in Santa Clarita, California. Both Fun & Fit Centers also contract with private schools and their local city Park and Recreation Departments teaching recreational gymnastics both on and off site.

In 1991 Jeff began to license a self-esteem building curriculum developed at Fun & Fit to other gymnastics schools and fitness clubs. Since then, hundreds of gymnastics and youth fitness programs internationally have been licensed to use what is called the "Fun & Fit Gymnastics Program".
 
Sarah Shafer, Instructor

Sarah grew up here at Fun & Fit. Attending High School she was involved with various activities including band, ballet, some track and weight training. She plans is attending Pasadena City College with a major in photography and minor in writing. Sarah was invited to join the Fun & Fit TNT (Teacher In Training) Scholarship Program at age 14 prior to joining the staff.

She loves working with the kids and staff here at Fun and Fit and wouldn’t change it for the world.
 
Lauren Stockly, Instructor

Lauren has enjoyed doing gymnastics at Fun & Fit since the age of two. At eleven she became part of the teachers in training (TNT) scholarship program. She is now proud to have been accepted onto the Fun and Fit staff team.

She attends Crescenta Valley High School where she participates in various clubs and works on the Glendale Rose Parade float every year.
 
Yumi J. Sugai, Instructor

Yumi grew up doing competitive gymnastics for over 10 years. She was a member of her national championship high school cheerleading team and went on to do cheerleading and track in college. She traveled across the nation for numerous games and tournaments and competed at college level national championships. She earned the title of MVP her senior year.

Yumi graduated in 2007 from Washington State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. Yumi is excited to be back in LA and enjoys sharing her love and passion for gymnastics as well as leading a healthy lifestyle. She currently volunteers at a hospital and is working on getting into Physical Therapy school.
 

Tamie Day, Instructor

Tamie’s interest and passion for performing started at an early age.  With the support of her loving parents, she was enrolled at Ocean Tumblers Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, VA.  There her skills flourished into wonderful opportunities as a competitive cheerleader.  Dancing, tumbling, and stunt building became daily disciplines between traveling to various places within the south eastern region to perform.

After graduating high school, Tamie moved 2,735 miles away from home to earn an Associate of Arts degree from FIDM, while studying at Playhouse West concurrently.  As she succeeded with her studies, Tamie also discovered a love of teaching others.  She is dedicated to building confidence in a new generation of athletes while aiding them in reaching their own success.
 

Cassie Manent, Instructor

Cassie is currently a senior at Cal State University Northridge majoring in public relations. She plans to become a teacher and has three years of experience in the classroom as an assistant. She is thankful for the opportunity to provide self-esteem and guidance for our youth.

Cassie loves children and is excited to be an instructor here at Fun & Fit Gymnastics.
